A short note at midnight-twenty (yes, that is a time):

I am home now.
Call me to hang whenever.
(I will be picking up my LNT job again, but I won't work my crazy 40-70 hr weeks like summer)
I miss some parts of Stoga.
I miss some parts of Cornell.

But, I'm totally ready for my quick break from life,
Spending 4 days in the arms of my Tom ,
and Restarting again at Tulane.

I have to say, I'm blessed to have had a semester to adjust to college, before I enter "real" college. Even though I would have loved to stay (minus weather and cost).

Yeah I may go into more of a thought entry on that, but really my main message was:

Call me to hang out. Seriously. I miss alla y'all!!

Seems like this is the only time I update...

Farewell, Cornell.

You've done me well. I thought I'd be at Tulane this semester, partying and taking 2 art courses and 2 psych courses and Italian, but apparantly mother nature had different ideas in mind.
So my life in a nutshell:

Cornell. Scary place, dude. I didn't want to go. Not even when I got there on Tues, not even when I signed up for classes, and not even when I arrived at my new house - Alpha Xi Delta. (Yes, a freshman, who doesn't go to CU, living at a sorority. Go figure. And freshman aren't allowed to rush till Spring.)

My classes went great, I won't get straight A's, but I'm taking 1/2 classes at 200 level, I missed the first 2 weeks of school, and dude - Cornell isn't entirely easy to adjust to when you're thinking "Tulane." haha. (And to be fair, the 2 classes that I expect B's in are "art history of Islam" and a psych-neurobiology course. And I am not versed in eastern religions, and I suck at biology.)

The girls at AZD were fantastic, the parties were far better than lame (though I preferred the apartment parties of the AZD girls to the frat parties - no drunken slobs trying to hump me every 10 minutes), and everyone in general was very supportive / interested in "the Tulane freshman girl." ... plus, that got me into more frat parties, as it was a unique way of life. haha. Cornell people apparantly loved having a sudden influx of ~ 150 Tulan'ians.

Now school is wrapping up, and I realized one thing:
I just underwent 4 years of high school in one semester. Maybe that was why it was so emo-charged.
I arrived, met a whole new set of people. Made friends, lost some along the way, some grew closer and will be "friends for life." Partied, screwed around in class (a lil bit too much), had a few sleepless nights and big tests. Had a few "romantic trists" (went on a few dates, tho nothing sexual cause I also had the boyfriend thing - just a thousand miles away).  It ended with AZD's "Snow Ball" (formal), just in time for finals. And now in the next 7 days, I will conclude with my schooling, take a lot of pictures, and say goodbye to the life to which it seems I'd just grown accustomed.

Though I'm not sure if I'll cry.
I don't want to leave, but I'm still excited for what the future holds for me.
Just like 3 months ago, as I was preparing to leave for Tulane (the first time).

As I will always say - This was the best "Plan B" semester ever. I couldn't have asked for better; I wouldn't have wanted anything differently.
If TU was closed next semester, I would have stayed gladly.

And it's good I can't transfer until next Fall; otherwise I might be tempted to say "nuts to my scholarship, I hope financial aid will cover the difference!"

But I have a life in the south that is calling me. (And money ... oh yeah, and the boyfriend factor). I'm sure I will have a ball there; I just hope I can find time in my life, and the girls here can find time in theirs, so that we can visit with one another, even when we're over a thousand miles away.

With pride, joy, and a little (or a big?)  bit of sorrow, I say:
"I got AXiD at Cornell, and loved every minute of it!"

so... Farewell, New Orleans (??)

As I'm sure all of you are well aware, Hurricane Katrina rather forced all residents of New Orleans + surrounding areas to leave. So I spent this last week in my new friend Thomas' house, as we had high hopes early on that Katrina might only cause a week or 2's worth of damage.

Instead, I will be returning to PA tomorrow (safe and sound, no worries.... just sans all but a suitcase and a laptop. haha.), for an undetermined amount of time.
Right now, the status of Tulane is that we only got 3 feet of water on our campus (big plus) and that all the residence halls are fully intact + appear to have all items that were put there (double big plus). So right now, officials are hoping that we all can return to campus in 6 weeks' time to start up the Fall Semester extraordinarily late (and prob. have classes on Saturdays + Sundays to make up for said lost time).
If that is the case, I will be in PA for 6 weeks, working at Linens 'N Things just a lil so that I don't get too cabin-feverish, and coming to share my tales at Stoga a bit. ...
If that isn't the case, well I come to 2 options: go to Texas school for a semester, to return to Tulane in January (ehhh), or the more likely - take an Italian course at a local college (to stay on top of my much-needed Italian training) while working at Linens the remaining amount of time, to return to Tulane in January.

While I do love alla y'all in PA, ... I'm still hoping for the 6 weeks.

See y'all soon!

Farewell, Xanga...

So this is likely to be my last post in xanga; I have an lj and prob will continue to update there (Cynner87 - amazingly different from this name, I know).  Other than that, I'm in facebook for all you seniors, if ya care.

Recent Events in Quick:
1- NY with brother Gary was fantabulous. Spamelot was beyond hillarious; I understand why it is COMPLETELY sold out until late September.  Sushi is actually kind-of good if done right. Except Sea Urchin and Octopus aren't very appetizing, and I almost got sick after the former.  Korean is simply yummy (for the most part), but is pretty spicy.  The W is an overrated / overpriced hotel. Overall, best grad. gift ever. I love my big brother!!
2- The Dali Exhibit was amazing. I spent 3 hours there with Jon.  Though I must say, Dali used sooooooooo much phallic imagery, it was quite funny. An awesome belated birthday present.
3- I'm applying to Charlie Brown's tomorrow, but will continue at CEC over summer
4- I have a laptop now. yay! (and it only cost me $700 - thank you, Memorial Day sales!)
5- I also recently put $4,000 into a Vanguard account, to watch my money (most likely) grow at a larger rate than the bank's 0.5%.
6- Once I get enough money back in my bank account, I'm thinking of getting a Cannon digital SLR. Perhaps an EOS. (translation: a pimped-out new camera)
7- I'm leaving August 20 for Tulane (for bandcamp, yay). I'm also going to stop working right around August 6 - call the cell if you wanna chill around then!
